China Camp Ride
August 6th, 2006

Come join us for a beautiful ride at China Camp State Park located on the southwest shore of San Pablo Bay, just three miles from central San Rafael in Marin County . This historic area dates back thousands of years when the Coast Miwok Indians lived there and then later Chinese immigrants settled there and expanded the shrimp industry. Many of these old buildings remain along with a museum that illustrated that life so long ago.

THE RETURN OF AN OLD TRADITION
For the China Camp ride we have decided to bring back the LUNCH AUCTION. Instead of using a caterer, everyone brings a lunch to contribute to an auction at lunchtime.
In the past members have been quite creative in assembling fabulous meals by putting various treats and goodies in boxes and baskets and then decorating the packages to catch the eye and whet the appetite. The lunches are auctioned one at a time until everyone who contributed a lunch has purchased one. The club will provide appetizers during the auction and the bar will be available as usual.

Directions: Take 280 from Woodside through San Francisco , across the Golden Gate Bridge . Continue north on 101 to San Rafael and take the San Pedro Road/china Camp turnoff. Bear right, following the signs to China Camp. Go approximately 3.4 miles to the Miwok Meadows turn off. Turn right and go about ½ mile to the parking lot. Please park where directed.

Fee: $10 members, $12 guests which includes donuts, coffee, appetizers, and park fee. Bring water for your horse and haul out your own manure. Remember your reservation is your commitment to pay. Sponsors please call and RSVP for your guest. No stallions, no ponying horses and no one under 21. LV recommends: riding boots and helmets.
