Skyline Ridge, Monte Bello Open Space Preserves
Sunday, April 5, 2009

Come ride Skyline Ridge and Monte Bello Open Space Preserves on April 5th. Beautiful CA costal scenery atop a (usually) fog free
ridge. Meadows and oak forest. Well maintained trails and friendly rangers.

From the junction of 84 (LaHonda Rd) and 35 (Skyline Blvd), turn south on Skyline. You will pass Fogarty Winery on the left and a
nursery on the right. About 6 miles south of 35, Alpine Rd branches off to the right. Continue on Skyline through multiple downhill
curves. A little over one mile south of Alpine, the road levels and straightens. SLOW DOWN. You will not see the right turn into Skyline
Ridge until you are nearly on top of it. There is a large sign at the entrance, but it sits parallel to the road and is also not visible until you are nearly abreast of it.

Go around the traffic circle to the left road. It is signed for equestrians. You will enter a large parking area with a turnaround
at the far end. Use it to position your rig at an outward facing angle along the east side fence. Park as close to the entry point as
possible. Do not leave large spaces between rigs. This will provide plenty of parking without parking anyone in.

Toilets are available in the northern parking area (signed 'visitors' at the traffic circle).

Make your reservation by March 31. Sixteen dollars members and eighteen for guests. Lunch will be sandwiches, fruit, chips and
water. It's make your own so be sure to come early enough to prep both your horse and yourself. Donuts, juice and lunch fixin's
available at 8:30. 9:45 ride meeting and 10 am ride out.
